Due to travel soon with Tony and Shirley so since I’m effectively on holiday today seems like as good a day as any to do some catching up on my blog. Alex is out anyway - he's at Leeds today working with another trader. They've done a deal where Alex helps him out in return for a free pitch. Only problem is that this trader has a van the size of the Grand Canyon so it takes about three hours to load. It does not make for a happy Alex who returns home with ruffled feathers after a long day.

Looking at my blog, or, more specifically the membership numbers, makes for dismal viewing. In fact the number is so pathetically small I can‘t even bring myself to publicise it on my own website (unless of course the figure is visible to you in which case you are probably rolling around on the carpet in tears of laughter thinking well there’s no danger of my getting in the way of your journey to The Times bestseller list.
As you can imagine the majority of people on there are friends who were, lets just say, given a bit of an incentive to sign up “please sign up and I will be your bestie forever!“ Oh come on what did you think I was going to say “If you ever want to see your budgie again ...... “
On the subject of reading material my current book Is ‘Katy’ by Jacqueline Wilson. Yep a children's book, or young teens at least. Don’t care. For one thing I dance to my own tune and another she’s a brilliant writer, a genius. ‘Katy’ is based on Heidi by the Swiss author Johanna Spyri and tells the story of a young girl of cheerful disposition who, during her life, befriends a young girl with a disability. The girl is eventually able to walk again. Jaqueline Wilson has a different take on the outcome. Its one of the most popular children's books ever written so I guess most of you probably know the story but just in case.....
Back to Alex - Monday isn't just a long day for him its a long day for me. Despite living and being on my own most of the time the house is disturbingly quiet during his absence. Odd really as even when he's around he doesn’t say much. What’s said when he is here? The ‘conversation’ if I might refer to it as such, tends to consist mainly of extreme irony, the odd serious moment and finding ever more inventive means of plotting each others demise. It‘s not conversation for everyone but that doesn’t matter because its not meant for everyone.
The humour does lead to some interesting moments usually when we forget where we are and who were addressing. Recently Alex had become friends (Facebook friends that is) with my friend Stephanie. He sent her a short message but failed to receive a reply. I asked him what his message said.
“Decorate your mind with Swedish Tinsel”
I really can‘t understand why she didn't reply.
