Just a quick update for those lovely people who have enquired about my progress in relation to purchasing a motorhome and travelling around the UK.
As you are aware it's finally happened. I am now the proud owner of a Hymer B654 motorhome and well on my way to starting out on my new life. Currently living in Huddersfield at the home of my friend Alex- (though might not be for much longer having drank too much of the old red eye last night and spent the night, banging about, causing the bed to collapse in the guest room, shouting, singing Rolling Stones songs and likening my friend Alex to female genitalia - BIG female genitalia and to go away and have intercourse with himself).
This is because there is work to do before I can get on with my travels. Van needs a service, tax needs purchasing (I know don't say anything will you?), I need a few trips round the block to get used to my new vehicle before haring off down the other end of Britain and I need to familiarise myself with the way everything works. I'm no fan of manuals so karma has treated me to a folder full of them as penance for a lifetime of avoiding the bloody things.
Buying a motorhome has been a journey in itself - what with considering every alternative form of living known to man - from the environmentally friendly 'Tiny House', to long boats, motor boats, fishing boats, caravans, shipping containers and even a hole in the ground (although it was a very posh hole in the ground!) having had four motorhomes I was interested in sold because the owners couldn’t wait a couple of days for me to send a mechanic round to do a pre-purchase check. One seller even had the cheek to wish me luck and hoped he would run into me one day when I had finally bought a new motorhome. I messaged him back to say how much I would also love to run into him.
I also realise I’ve been somewhat vague about my travel intentions. This won’t do a) because many people are asking about them and b) since it’s my intention to set up a blogging website I feel my travels need some sort of focus - so here it is!
To travel around the UK to as many steampunk events/festivals as possible.
To stay in the vicinity of those events/festivals to discover more about the area.
To set up a blog/occasional vlogs
To feature steampunk celebrities/characters within steampunk
To promote steampunk
To attend steampunk social evenings
To visit the many kind steampunk friends who have offerred me a place to stay/park on their land.
